The name MARINOVUS is based on a combination of the two words ‘maritime’ (human activity at sea) and the Latin word ‘novus’ (new), which the word innovation derives from.
The establishment of MARINOVUS is our commitment to bringing closer innovation to the Maritime Industry, which is naturally expressed through our logo.
At MARINOVUS we have been developing NYMA, our proprietary Maritime safety management software platform.
The Simple Solution to a Complex Problem
According to Greek Mythology, Athenians had to pay a yearly tribute of seven young men and women to the Minotaur in Knossos, Crete. Theseus decided to confront the Minotaur and save the city of Athens from that tribute. He knew he would face two challenges: killing the monster and then finding his way out of the Labyrinth. The princess, Ariadne, helped him by giving him a ball of thread, known as Ariadne’s NYMA (meaning ‘thread’). As Theseus penetrated the Labyrinth, he unwound the thread, allowing him to find his way back out after slaying the beast.
“Ariadne’s NYMA” is an excellent metaphor for how to resolve a complex problem with a simple solution.
NYMA is the thread in the hands of crew, captains and central offices working in the Maritime Industry. It offers digitalization capabilities that transform the way seafarers run the daily safety procedures and prevents them from making human errors during the execution of critical shipboard operations. Thus it enhances safety performance on board. At the same time its easy-to-use interface assists the crew to easily fill out the required e-forms, store them in an errorless way and quickly search them when the need to. Moreover, the managers and company owners can easily view the status of the safety procedures at any time, wherever they are. In addition, they are aware of any crucial detail in any of the critical shipboard operations by receiving action driven personalized notifications (calls, text messages and emails). All these in a friendly, easy-to-learn and easy-to-use user interface.
